Dr. Kenneth Fults and Dr. Janine Islam, as well as our consulting physicians Dr. John McConnell and Dr. William Donovan, take time with all of our East Texas patients to learn about their problems and determine the proper pain management treatment options
Pain Recovery Center of Tyler utilizes C-arm fluoroscopy, diagnostic X-rays, electrodiagnostic testing, biofeedback and functional capacity evaluations (FCE). Our pain management treatments include nerve blocks, lumbar epidural injections, trigger point injections, facet injections, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), traditional physical therapy and spinal decompression.
Our staff physicians have additional training in modern pain management technology and treatments. We also have many successes with a variety of pain-causing conditions ranging from arthritis to whiplash to work-related injuries.Pain Recovery Center of Tyler uses the most comprehensive treatments, calling upon the expertise of physical therapists, orthopedic and occupational medicine specialists, along with a host of injection therapies, nerve blocks and leading-edge diagnostic technologies.
Both Dr. Fults and Dr. Islam are on the ADL (Approved Doctors List) level 2, allowing either one to treat patients in accordance with the DWC (Division of Worker’s Compensation). Dr. Islam is also on the Designated Doctor list and is qualified to provide maximum medical improvement, impairment ratings, RME's (Required Medical Exams) and IME's (Independent Medical Exams) for injured East Texas workers.

Kenneth Fults, D.O.
Dr. Kenneth Fults has been practicing Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine since 1968, and has been in the Tyler, Texas area since the 1990s providing treatment options related to car accidents, work accidents and rehabilitation medicine.
Dr. Fults provides patients with numerous treatment options including spinal decompression, facet injections, trigger point injections, neurotomys, nerve blocks and traditional physical therapy.
Dr. Fults is also an interventionist providing injection and aggressive/conservative therapy options to other physicians in the state of Texas. As a graduate of the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Dr. Fults is now on the ADL (Approved Doctors List) level 2, allowing him to treat patients in accordance with the DWC(Division of Worker’s Compensation).
Janine Islam, M.D.
Dr. Janine Islam brings over 20 years of experience to the Pain Recovery Center of Tyler by helping patients who suffer from joint and muscle pain, as well as providing patients with cutting edge weight control programs and bioidentical hormone treatments.
Dr. Islam’s experience in the Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) specialized weight control program and the Age Management Medicine program of bioidentical hormones offers a unique opportunity to patients in the Tyler, Texas area.
Dr. Islam has been a Pain Recovery Center of Tyler and Tyler Wellcare team member since 2007.
Dr. Islam is on the ADL (Approved Doctors List) level 2, allowing her to treat patients in accordance with the DWC (Division of Worker’s Compensation). She is also on the Designated Doctor list and is qualified to provide maximum medical improvement, impairment ratings, RME's (Required Medical Exams) and IME's (Independent Medical Exams) for injured workers.
Prior to joining our team, Dr. Islam followed her LSU summa cum laude microbiology and Tulane University School of Medicine graduations with her Internal Medicine Internship at Delaware Medical Center. Leaving Delaware, Dr. Islam found her Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation calling at the world renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
John McConnell, M.D.
Pain Recovery Center of Tyler is honored to have Dr. John McConnell, orthopedic surgeon, as a consultant for our team, and a helping hand to our patients.
Dr. McConnell specializes in arthroscopic surgery and related "minimally invasive" surgical techniques. These techniques are used to treat patients with pain and disability caused by conditions of the major joints with less risk, pain and disability for patients.
Dr. McConnell has been responsible for a number of innovations for shoulder and knee surgery. His surgical techniques for the knee are referenced in the standard orthopedic textbook, Campbell's Operative Orthopaedics. The McConnnell System for Shoulder Surgery is used around the world.
For more than 20 years, Dr. McConnell has served as consultant, advisor, designer, and board member for a number of national and start up medical companies involved in medically related endeavors including medical equipment design and research, physician management, and medical information technology.
Dr. McConnell is a graduate of SMU and University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. His orthopedic residency was with the Campbell Clinic, and his arthroscopic fellowship was with John B. McGinty,M.D.
William Donovan, M.D.
We are honored to have Dr. William Donovan, orthopedic surgeon, as a consulting physician at Pain Recovery Center of Tyler.
Dr. Donovan specializes in orthopedic surgery, back injuries and pain management. He established Northshore Orthopedic Associates in Houston in 1975, and continues to e orthopedic medicine.
Dr. Donovan has been involved in both private and public medical enterprises throughout his career as a physician. He developed the Quad Video HALO Technology™ used by Pain Recovery Center of Tyler to capture and record the pain management injection process. This Halo Technology allows our East Texas patients to attach their injections to their medical records, creating a highly effective outcome in many court cases involving work related accidents and motor vehicle accidents.
Dr. Donovan attended medical school at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, and received his orthopedic training at Northwestern University in Chicago.
